RULES & REGULATIONS

Competition of Festival of Modern Composers with its 1st edition dedicated to the most famous composer in Malta Mro Joseph Vella, organized by European Foundation for Support of Culture in collaboration with Malta Philharmonic Orchestra will be held in Malta from 6-9 October 2016 for different kinds of instruments.

  • Competition is open to every musician representing a professional level of performance of any nationality without age limit.
  • Applications must be received no later than September 25th, 2016. Applications received after the deadline date might not be accepted. (The deadline for the applications is extended to the 4th of October, Tuesday). 
  • Candidates will be informed by not later than September 30th, 2016 whether they are accepted or not.
  • Participation is free of charge.
  • Application form filled in on official website of the Festival.
  • Short biographical note (not more than 70 words). Biography will be printed in official brochures of the Festival.
  • Photocopy of an official document indicating date of birth should be sent together with application form.
  • Application filled in online is considered as signed and indicates that the applicant agrees with all the Rules & Regulations.
  • Accommodation, meals, travel and visa expenses are NOT included.
  • It will be the responsibility of the contestant to register with the Competition committee on Wednesday, 5 October 2016, between 13:00 – 18:00 pm.
  • All contestants will be required to attend the Closing Ceremony of the Festival and Draw of Competition on Wednesday, 5 October 2016.
  • The organizers will make it possible for Competition participants to test-play the pianos.
  • All music is performed either from scores or from memory. If the participant decides to perform from memory, it will be the advantage.
  • Prizes and Awards will be announced soon after the Final Round at the Closing Ceremony of the Competition.
  • The Jury’s decisions are final and not subject to review.
  • All prize winners will be responsible to appear in all concert engagements arranged by the Competition Organizers including performing in the Gala Concert for Prize Winners on Saturday, 8 October 2016.
  • Competition performances will be open to the public
  • Prelim rounds for the competition will be held on the 6th and 7th of October.
  • Final round will be held on the 8th October.

I Prize – 1000 Euros

II Prize – 500 Euros

III Prize – 300 Euros

Total Prize amount: 1800 Euros
